Yikes!!!  The Euro is 1.60 to the US dollar (22 April 08).  Do you European travelers have any travel tips to share???  David and I purchase food in grocery stores ...cheese, bread, fruit, veggies that don't require cooking. Any other thoughts/ideas?  I'd like to hear your comments.

Sally,

Wish I could provide better advice than "don't drink the water!"

I'll be watching this thread closely -- I'm traveling to France next year for some kayaking.

Where are you headed "over the pond?"

Hi Matt,
Yes, we only drink bottled water. (smiling)

We're headed for Austria and Bavaria, Germany in September.  Have research to follow up, either teach or demo fan-carving AND take a class at Austrian school of woodcarving Geisler-Moroder.  Thanks for your comment.

Sally

Your class in Austria will be a life-changing event. The people, instructors and area are something that is far beyond the information you get. Enter the class with an open mind and be ready to carve from a different perspective. Start thinking about some special carving subject that you want to improve or master. They will ask you on the first day. One lady in my class made a Santa easily worth $ 1000 over here, with their help. There are hour-long classes in basic stuff thrown in. The food and rooms were fine and they pamper you.

Walk down to the local church and the bistro that will catch trout and serve it to you.

Have a ball

Hi Rick,
Thanks for the bump.  I haven't been on for eons.  Time to change that!!!  The message I posted was in 2008 and yes, everything you said about Geisler-Moroder is very true.  We had a wonderful experience teaching fan-carving in the evenings and taking Helli Mayr's class during the day.  We will definitely return!
